Capac wins for first time in BWAC, stopping Almont 8-7

TRI-CITY AREA — Capac prevailed for the first time versus a Blue Water Area Conference opponent this season, securing an 8-7 road victory over Almont last Thursday afternoon.

In Thursday's nailbiter, Capac took advantage of a three-run first inning, a one-run third, a two-run fourth and a two-run fifth to prevail.

Almont countered with a one-run second inning, a one-run third, a two-run fifth and a three-run sixth.

Jon Botwin, Tom Manney and Bobby Nyquist led Capac with two singles apiece. Tom Brys, Justin Kurzynski, Travis York and Cameron Lauwers added a single each to the Chiefs' cause.

Botwin was the winning Capac pitcher. He scattered 11 hits and struck out eight along the way.

For Almont, Steve Mack set the pace with three singles. He was backed by Chris Creger (a double) along with Burton Juengel, Mike Grundner, Tyler Wiggins, Tom Chilcote, Chris May, Zack Lowell and Joe Rottman (a single apiece).
