Spartans defeat Raiders, fall to Pioneers in BWAC softball

IMLAY CITY — Imlay City rolled to a convincing 13-2 victory over Almont in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity softball encounter lasting five innings Thursday afternoon.

With the final, Imlay City improves to 8-13 overall and 7-3 as far as BWAC clashes are concerned.

In Thursday's encounter, Imlay City opened up an 8-0 cushion after one inning was complete.

Almont then bounced back with a 2-0 second inning edge, cutting their deficit 8-2.

That was followed by a scoreless third inning.

The fourth inning would see Imlay City put up five runs, while allowing Almont none.

That staked Imlay City to a commanding 13-2 cushion.

Imlay City then held Almont scoreless during the top half of the fifth inning, assuring themselves of a win when the final out was registered.

Mikayla Pardon, Miranda Steffler and Alyssa Dawson led Imlay City with a pair of basehits apiece. The Spartans also received one hit each from Alyssa Snyder, Ashley Timmer and Chelsea Thompson.

Snyder was Imlay City's pitcher of record. She allowed five hits, struck out nine and issued one walk over the five-inning distance.

Alexandra Eble, Keeley Creger, Lindsay Ladzinski, Jackie Jessel and Tiana Houghton accounted for Almont's basehits.

Three days prior to that, Imlay City was not as fortunate when the final scores were tallied.

Playing on the road versus Blue Water Area Conference rival, Imlay City dropped a 5-2 verdict.

Brianna Jackman, Dawson and Snyder paced Imlay City's offensive attack. They finished with one basehit apiece.
