Garage Sale Frenzy, Farmers Market
also on tap in Almont on May 15-17

ALMONT — You can't say there's nothing to do this weekend in Almont.
The Almont Downtown Development Authority and Almont Homecoming Committee are collaborating to present the community's 1st Annual 'Spring Fling' May 15-17.
The event will feature merchant sidewalk sales, displays and vendor exhibits along Main Street and at the Fountain Park.
The downtown activities coincide with the 9th Annual 'Garage Sale Frenzy,' sponsored by the Almont Homecoming Committee.
The community-wide garage sale is open to all village and township residents wishing to hold invididual sales. All those who paid the $10 registration fee by the May 7 deadline, received promotional material and placement on the Garage Sale Frenzy map.
And there's more...
On Saturday, May 17, the Almont Farmers Market opens to the public for the first time this season.
The market, located at the corner of Main and School streets, is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will include a spring planting seminar hosted by the Almont Garden Club.
If that's not enough activity for the weekend, come on back to the same site on Sunday, May 18 for the Almont Flea Market, which is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
DDA Director Nancy Boxey hopes to see a lot of residents who've been hibernating for the winter at the multiple activities as well as some new faces.
"We have 47 sites registered for the garage sales and 28 participating businesses," says Boxey. "We've had a great response. I think it's phenomenal.
"We hope to develop this event into something that will bring both residents and our neighbors into town," said Boxey. "We want to give everyone lots of things to do once they get here."
Based on the response to the first-ever 'Fling," Boxey anticipates good things for the event in the future.
"This event is bringing a lot of groups and individuals together," she says. "I think we can expect this to grow next year."
Garage Sale Frenzy maps are available at the Almont Village offices, the DDA office and participating businesses.
