Imlay defeats Capac softball squad, 7-1

TRI-CITY AREA — Imlay City downed visiting Capac, 7-1, in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity softball game last Wednesday afternoon.

With the decision, Imlay City raises its mark to 6-8 overall.

In Wednesday's game, Imlay City used a two-run third inning, a two-run fourth and a three-run sixth to emerge victorious.

Mikayla Pardon was the winning Imlay City pitcher. She threw a two-hitter en route.

Miranda Steffler (a single and a triple) along with Leah Rankin and Pardon (a pair of singles) led Imlay City with multiple-hit performances. Brianna Jackman, Ashley Timmer and Chelsea Thompson added a single apiece to the Chiefs' cause.

Abby Aguinaga and Jamie Green (a single each) furnished Capac's basehits.

A day earlier, Imlay City dropped both ends of a doubleheader to visiting non-league counterpart Utica.

In the opener, an 8-2 loss, Imlay City managed eight basehits.

Jackman (a pair of singles) paced Imlay City's offensive attack. Kelly Duquette and Alyssa Dawson (a double apiece) along with Alyssa Snyder, Courtney Shene, Terra Volmering, Thompson (a single each) supported her performance.

In the nightcap, Utica notched a 7-1 victory over Imlay City.

Pardon topped Imlay City with a pair of singles. Timmer, Snyder and Jackman tacked on a single apiece to the Spartans' cause.

Imlay City also tangled with Blue Water Area Conference rival Armada on Monday, April 28.

In that encounter at home, Pardon and Timmer led Imlay City with three singles each. The remaining Spartan basehits went to Jackman (two singles), Volmering (a double) along with Thompson, Snyder and Dawson (a single apiece).
