ALMONT — Almont handed host Capac a 4-0 setback in a Blue Water Area Conference girls' soccer encounter on Monday, April 21.

Heather Curtis (assisted by Chelsea Dudek), Curtis (set up by Kaylin Deppe), Curtis (assisted by Deppe) and Deppe (set up by Lisa Marcath) accounted for Almont's goals that day. All of those tallies came during the first half of play.

Nicole Gibson handled the goalkeeping chores for Almont. She wound up with a seven-save performance.

Two days later, Almont was not as fortunate when the final scores were added up.

Pitted against visiting Blue Water Area Conference counterpart Richmond, Almont fell behind 6-1 at the halftime break and wound up on the losing side of an 8-1 verdict.

The contest drew to a close with 19:59 showing on the second half clock when Almont goalkeeper Melissa Anderson was inadvertently kicked in the face by an oncoming Richmond player.

She momentarily lost consciousness, an ambulance was called and competitors from both sides stood in silence concerned over the condition of the fallen player.

Minutes later, an ambulance arrived on the scene and took her to a nearby hospital where she stayed the evening as a precautionary measure. The following day she stayed home from school.

On Friday, Anderson returned to school for the first time since the injury happened.

In defeat, Heather Curtis collected the lone Almont goal. That came via a penalty kick with 25:04 elapsed during the first half of play.
