DRYDEN — The Dryden varsity softball team now stands at 4-1-1 overall and 2-1-1 as far as NCTL encounters are concerned following last Thursday's doubleheader versus visiting Memphis.

In the opener, Memphis claimed an 8-7 win at Dryden's expense.

Jessica Lavalla (two singles and a double), April Warner (three singles) and Sarah DeCeuninck (a double and a homer) proved Dryden's toughest outs. The Cardinals also had Cortney Lowney and Natalie Maynard (a single each) reach the hitting column.

In the nightcap, Dryden and Memphis wound up with eight runs apiece in an eight-inning contest brought to a halt due to impending darkness.

Sarah DeCeuninck (three hits, including two over the fence home runs), Allen (two singles and a double), Lauren Sohn, Amanda Jones, Lynsey Marchwinski and Lavalla (three singles apiece) made their plate presence felt for Dryden. They were backed by Alyssa Moyer and Warner (two singles apiece) along with Maynard (one single).

Maynard handled the pitching assignment for Dryden. She struck out nine batters and walked one along the way.
