Imlay City girls second in season-opening tri meet

IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City girls' track team took second among three entries in a non-league meet versus Marlette and host North Branch last Wednesday afternoon.

North Branch took meet honors, aided by a 79-point output. Imlay City claimed second, thanks to a 53-point total, and Marlette tallied 44 for third.

Krissy Swejkowski, high jump, 5 feet; supplied the lone Imlay City individual event first that day.

The Imlay City 400 (Becky Hummel, Taelor Webb, Taylor Lee and Nicole Wilcox) plus 800 (Hummel, Lee, Webb and Swejkowski) and 1600-meter (Hummel, Lee, Webb and Swejkowski) relays also emerged victorious. They posted times of 56.05 seconds, 1:56.7 and 4:39 en route.

Swejkowski, long jump, 15 feet 2 inches; Lindsey Van Dyk, 300 hurdles, 55.89 seconds and 3200-meter run (13:39); and Lee, 400 dash, 1:08.88; generated Imlay City's individual event seconds.

The Imlay City 3200-meter relay of Kassie Brozowski, Ashton Tripp, Brittany Price and Sarah Bennett took second as well. They required 11:42 to cover the territory.

Hummel, 200 dash, 30.6 seconds; Michelle Marcial, 300-meter hurdles, 56.77 seconds; Caley Campbell, 400 dash, 1:13; and Price, 800-meter run, 2:59; provided Imlay City's thirds that day.

Imlay City also received fourths courtesy of Josefine Egholm, high jump, 4 feet 6 inches; and Tripp, 800 run, 3:02.

With the outcome, Imlay City now stands at 1-1 overall.
