Spartan boys second at North Branch

IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City boys' track squad pulled up second in a non-league triangular meet with Marlette and host North Branch last Wednesday afternoon.

When the final scores were announced, North Branch's 102-point total set the pace. Imlay City took second, thanks to a 54-point output, and Marlette tallied 16 for third.

Mason Duke, shot put (41 feet 8 inches) and discus (115 feet 1 inch); Mike Guerrero, 800-meter run, 2:09; along with E.J. Radelt, 1600 run, 5:03; led Imlay City with individual event firsts.

The Imlay City 3200-meter relay of Robert Huff, Kevin Shene, Radelt and Guerrero also prevailed. They stopped the watch at 9:00.67 en route.

Rick Davis, pole vault, 9 feet 6 inches; Shene, 200 dash, 24.7 seconds; and Radelt, 3200-meter run, provided Imlay City's individual event seconds.

The Imlay City 400 (D.J, Salet, Nick Nivison, Joey Christunas and Shene), 800 (David Sears, Salet, Christunas and Guerrero) and 1600 (Johnny Mosier, Nivison, Sears and Guerrero) relays all claimed seconds. They logged respective clockings of 48.01 seconds, 1:40.3 and 3:53 along the way.

Christunas, 110-meter hurdles, 19.05 seconds; gave Imlay City an outright individual event third.

Tyler Nichols and Branden Diplock added a tie for a pole vault third. Both cleared 9 feet.

Salet, 100 dash, 12.43 seconds; Mosier, 200-meter dash, 25.38 seconds; Christunas, 300 hurdles, 49.41 seconds; Sears, 400-meter dash, 56.91 seconds; and Davis, 3200 run, 12:28; rounded out the list of Imlay City placewinners with fourths.
