April 09, 2008 IMLAY CITY — Mark Owen Jr. allowed just two hits over the six-inning distance, retired eight via the strikeout route and walked three as Imlay City rolled to a convincing 9-0 road victory over North Branch in a non-league varsity baseball doubleheader last Thursday afternoon.
In the encounter, Imlay City used a five-run second inning, a a two-run fourth and a two-run sixth to prevail.
Devon Wiegers (two singles, a double, two runs and one RBI) and Kevin Ahrens (three singles, two runs, one RBI and three stolen bases) proved Imlay City's toughest outs. Andrew Harbin (two singles, two runs and a stolen base), Blaine Goertler (two singles, a run and a stolen base), Justin Pitt, Ryan Pitt and Steve Lesniak (a single each) along with Adam Van Dyk (one RBI) supported their performances.
With the result, Imlay City now stands at 1-0 overall.
