March 19, 2008 CAPAC — Capac senior Lindsey Manning signed a national letter of intent to become a part of the Adrian College women's cross country and track teams recently.
In addition to Adrian College, Manning was also recruited by Elmhurst (Illinois) College and Albion College.
Last fall Manning registered a season-best 21:04 clocking on the way to a 12th Wednesday, September 12 at an Almont High School-based Blue Water Area Conference Jamboree Meet.
Her lengthy list of accomplishments included a fourth at the Lapeer County Meet hosted by North Branch High School; a 12th at an Almont High School-based Blue Water Area Conference Jamboree Meet; a 16th at the Brown City Invitational; a 20th among Division 3 entries at the Holly Invitational; a 33rd at a Blue Water Area Conference Jamboree Meet hosted by Algonac High School; plus supplied a 34th at the Muskrat Invitational in Algonac.
She wrapped up the year, her second on Capac's squad, a Tri-City Times All-Area first team selection.
Manning also proved a key contributor for Capac's track team the previous spring.
As a junior, Manning tested her endurance skills over the 1600 and 3200-meter run distances. There she checked in with best clockings of 5:51.14 and 12:49.39, respectively.
Manning closed out the year as a Tri-City Times All-Area second team selection over those aforementioned distances
She also ran a leg on Capac's 3200 relay, which listed a 10:45 effort as their swiftest time.
Manning joined forces with Danielle Nieman, Melissa Sawicki and Jessica Medrano to secure Tri-City Times All-Area second team status for that event.
She said Adrian College told her that she may compete in the steeplechase event next season.
The Adrian College women's cross country and track teams both ranked sixth pitted against MIAA foes a year ago.
