February 13, 2008 ALMONT — Almont handed visiting Armada a 52-48 setback in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity boys' basketball matchup last Friday night.
With the decision, Almont goes to 10-7 and 7-5.
In Friday's matchup, Almont opened up a 14-12 edge after one quarter was complete.
Quarter number two saw both teams hit for 11-point outputs.
That made it 25-23, Almont, at the halftime break.
When the action resumed, Almont padded its cushion some.
Thanks to a 16-12 third quarter edge, Almont led 41-35 at the 24-minute mark.
Armada then outscored Almont 13-11 the rest of the way, only to fall by a 52-48 count when the final buzzer sounded.
Zack Lowell (14 points), Kevin Clarkston (13) and Neal Zott (10, including a pair of trifectas) proved Almont's toughest players to stop. They were backed by Brian Thomas (seven points), Dillon Melly (five) and Josh Walker (three).
Jordan Krause (12 points, featuring a trey) led Armada. Damon Szafranski (10 points, with a triple) and Jared Wozniak (10) hit for double figures outputs as well.
