Members of Capac’s newly-formed Robotics team include: Brandon St. Onge, Dan Gonzales, Stefen Hargis, Josh Hill, Dody Laeder, Grant Pentecost, Aaron Sawicki, Tom Tobian and Corey Green. Team coaches and mentors are: Tracy Stoldt, Bill St. Onge, Jerry Pentecost, John Antilla and Kevin Witt. The team competes March 7-8 in the Rookie Regional competition in Flint.

The competition is limited to first-year robotics teams only and is considered a warmup to the March 20-22 West Michigan Regional competition in Allendale, MI.

Under the tutelege of coach (and high school teacher) Tracy Stoldt and mentors Bill St. Onge, Jerry Pentecost, John Antilla and Kevin Witt, the newly-named "Dyn-O-Mite" team has spent the past five weeks constructing its very first robot. The deadline for the build phase is Feb. 19.

The newly-organized team, consisting of students in grades 9-12, is the first competitive high school robotics team in St. Clair County.

The brainchild of Capac School Board member John Antilla, the team has been the recipient of financial sponsorship from Wittco Inc. of Yale ($6,000); a Chrysler Corp. Foundation Grant ($5,000); Keihin Corp. ($1,000); and Doodling Outback Embroidery (60 team shirts estimated at $10 apiece).

Antilla says the creation and development of a high-school level robotics team is a boon to the school district, and an invaluable opportunity for the student participants.
