January 30, 2008 It was a perfect weekend for Zehnder's Snowfest 2008 in Frankenmuth. Our village bus driver took us to view it with a final thrill of doing a 'wheelie' on an icy church parking lot. Big boys and their toys. He is always fun when taking us here and there. He gave us a good view of the high school snow sculpting in the River Place parking lot. Thirteen schools took part. They used 10 x 10 x 10 blocks of snow.
There was also snow sculpting in other parking lots.
The ice carving competitions thrilled me the most. The collegiate ice carvings behind Rau's Country Store amazed me. Of course, the professional ice carvings were beautiful.
And the hot air balloons! They were anchored at the Heritage Park Riverbank. Daisy and I watched them take off into the wild blue yonder on Sunday morning. I was told it was a competition. When I asked how much to take a ride, a lady told me she thought around $500. Could that be???? It burst my balloon dream.
The fireworks were spectacular as viewed from my patio.
Always something interesting in Frankenmuth. Come and visit Daisy and me.
Daisy and I drove downtown early Sunday morning to view the snow sculptings and ice carvings. I thought we would be the only ones out at eight in the morning and I would take her walking with me. Not so. There were quite a few out and several with their dogs so, I left Daisy in the car. But I got the number one parking space and she could see me.
