January 30, 2008 ALMONT — Almont tallied twice as many points as visiting Cros-Lex did en route to a 56-28 victory in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity girls' basketball encounter last Friday night.
With the result, Almont moves to 14-0 overall and 8-0 versus BWAC rivals.
In Friday's encounter, Almont charged out to 15-7 lead after one quarter was history.
Almont then raised its cushion to 31-13 at the halftime break and 48-21 after three quarters were complete.
The hosts followed it up with an 8-7 fourth quarter advantage, putting the finishing touches on a 56-28 victory.
Nikki Heim (19 points, including three field goals of the three-point variety) and Lindsey Yaklin (17, with a pair of trifectas) proved Almont's top offensive threats. The remaining Raider points went to Chanahl Putnam (nine, featuring a trey), Brandy Ullom (six, including one field goal of the three-point variety) and Jolie Wycinski (five).
Wycinski notched the highest Almont rebound total, grabbing six.
Putnam added six assists and five steals to Almont's cause.
