Capac girls fall three points shy


Cros-Lex holds on in girls' BWAC shootout, 60-57

CAPAC — Cros-Lex outscored host Capac, 60-57, in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity girls' basketball battle on Tuesday, January 22.

With the decision, Capac falls to 1-12 overall and 0-7 as far as BWAC matchups are concerned.

In Tuesday's battle, Cros-Lex grabbed a 15-13 edge after one quarter was complete.

The next eight-minute stretch saw Cros-Lex accumulate 18 points, while allowing Capac 13.

That staked Cros-Lex to a 33-26 advantage at the halftime break.

When the action resumed, Capac bounced back with a 20-15 third quarter edge.

That enabled Capac to close their deficit to 48-46 at the 24-minute mark.

Cros-Lex then outscored Capac by a 12-11 count from that point on, assuring themselves of a 60-57 win when the final buzzer sounded.

Aleece Force paced Cros-Lex that evening. She finished with 20 points, draining three triples along the way. Jackie VanderGraaf added 10 points to the Pioneers' cause.

Taylor Sinda (16 points) led four Capac players in double figures. She was given assistance in the scoring department by Gloria Polzin (13 points), Brandy Bly and Samantha Batchelder (10 each) along with Jennica Polzin (eight).
