IMLAY CITY — Cros-Lex held host Imlay City to a combined five points during the even-numbered quarters en route to a 39-27 road triumph in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity boys' basketball game last Friday night.
With the verdict, Cros-Lex improves to 4-6 and 3-2. Imlay City slips to 2-8 and 0-6.
In Friday's game, Imlay City started things off with an 11-0 run encompassing a 5:42 span.
Cros-Lex then outscored Imlay City 4-0 over the next two minutes-plus, trimming its deficit to 11-4 at quarter's end.
The next eight-minute stretch would belong to Cros-Lex.
Aided by an 11-3 cushion there, Cros-Lex took a 15-14 lead at the midway mark.
The third quarter would see Cros-Lex pad its cushion some.
Thanks to a 12-11 advantage over that stretch, Cros-Lex forged a 27-25 edge at the 24-minute mark.
Cros-Lex then outscored Imlay City 12-2 the rest of the way, putting the finishing touches on a 39-27 win.
For Cros-Lex, Cameron Barrett led the way. He finished with a 15-point performance.
Chris Coleman paced Imlay City with 10 points. He was given assistance in the scoring department by Chris Walters (six points), Mark Owen (a three-pointer), Adam Van Dyk (three), John Aversano and Darren Saunders (two apiece) along with Ben Deppong (one).
