January 23, 2008 ALMONT — Neal Zott hit a three-point play with four seconds remaining, lifting visiting Almont to a dramatic 51-48 road victory over Armada in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity boys' basketball matchup on Tuesday, January 15.
The opening half would prove a back-and-forth affair.
The 16-minute stretch of hoops drew to a close with Armada clinging to a 26-24 edge.
When the action resumed, Armada struck with a 16-9 third quarter advantage.
That pushed Armada's cushion to 42-33 at the 24-minute mark.
To Almont's credit, they refused to let that imposing deficit keep them down.
Instead, Almont bounced back with an 18-6 fourth quarter rally to pull out the heartstopping 51-48 victory.
Zack Lowell led Almont with a 16-point performance. He drained a triple along the way.
Josh Walker (14) posted the next highest Almont point total. The remaining Raider points went to Zott (12, including a trifecta), Kevin Clarkston (five, featuring a trey) along with Brian Thomas (four).
For Armada, Jared Wozniak proved the toughest player to stop. Wozniak finished with a 15-point effort.
