Capac responded to the quick start by countering with a 12-4 run over the next 3:53 stretch.

That flurry left Imlay City clinging to a 16-15 edge at quarter's end.

The second quarter would see Imlay City pad its cushion some.

Aided by a 20-17 advantage there, Imlay City raised their lead to 36-32 at the halftime break.

When the action resumed, Imlay City widened the gap even more.

Quarter number three saw Imlay City collect 15 points, while allowing Capac 13.

That made it 51-45, Imlay City, at the 24-minute mark.

The opening minutes of the fourth quarter would see Capac start to mount a comeback.

It was there Capac put together a 9-3 run encompassing a 3:03 span.

When Joe Harvey connected on a righthanded hook shot in the lane, capping the aformentioned flurry, Capac had squared the scoreboard count at 54 points per side. There was now 4:57 showing on the fourth quarter clock.

The contest would stay close the rest of the way.

With 1:03 to play, Capac went ahead 64-63 when Joe Frazier drilled an attempt from trifecta territory. That would prove the eventual final as neither side connected again that evening.

Harvey led Capac with a 17-point effort. Joe Frazier (11 points, featuring three treys) and Kevin Bollaert (10 points) hit for double figures as well. The Chiefs also had Tino Siewert (nine points, with three triples), Dan Jackson (eight), Jon Carroll (five, with a triple) and Jon Botwin (four) reach the scoring column.
