Putnam hits for a triple-double in Almont victory


Raiders remain undefeated with 59-49 win over Reese

ALMONT — Chanahl Putnam (23 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists) hit for a triple-double and Lindsey Yaklin added 20 points, including two field goals of the three-point variety, as Almont registered a 59-49 triumph against visiting Reese in a non-conference varsity girls' basketball encounter last Friday night.

With the outcome, Almont improves to 8-0 overall.

In Friday's encounter, Almont jumped out to a 17-10 cushion after one quarter was complete.

Reese then bounced back with a 17-16 second quarter edge, trimming their deficit to 33-27 at the halftime break.

Quarter number three would see both teams post identical 12-point outputs.

That left Almont holding a 45-39 edge at the 24-minute mark.

Almont then outscored Reese by a 14-10 count the rest of the way, putting the finishing touches on a 59-49 win.

Nicole Heim (12 points) was the next most productive Almont scorer. Brandy Ullom and Jolie Wycinski added two points each to the Raiders' cause.

Jenna Lynch paced Reese with 13 points. She drained a triple along the way. Amber Gotham (10 points, including a trifecta) made her presence felt as well.
