Imlay City boys' basketball team drops a home matchup to Fenton

IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City varsity boys' basketball team now sports a 1-2 overall mark following a 67-55 setback to visiting non-league rival Fenton on Tuesday, December 11.

In Tuesday's clash, Fenton and Imlay City ended the initial quarter with matching 12-point outputs.

The next eight-minute stretch saw Fenton deposit 23 points through the twines, while allowing Imlay City 16.

That staked Fenton to a 35-28 cushion at the halftime break.

When the action resumed, Imlay City bounced back with a 17-15 third quarter edge.

That whittled Imlay City's deficit to 50-45 at the 24-minute mark.

Fenton then outscored Imlay City 17-10 the rest of the way, closing out a 67-55 road triumph.

Steven Noriega (12 points, featuring a trey) and Joe Mascow (10, with a triple) proved Fenton's toughest players to contain.

For Imlay City, Chris Coleman (12 points, including a pair of trifectas) led the way. He was given assistance in the scoring department by Mark Owen (eight points, featuring a pair of treys), Adam Van Dyk (eight), Ben Deppong (six), Chris Walters and Eric Ebert (five), Mason Duke (four), John Aversano (three) along with Chase Dockham and Darren Saunders (two each).
