November 14, 2007 ATTICA TWP. — Three people were killed as the result of a multi-vehicle accident Friday afternoon on Lake Pleasant Rd.
Ingrid Baillod, 71, of North Branch was pronounced dead at the scene and an Oxford couple, Richard Kroninger, 81, and Lucile Kroninger, 76, succumbed to their injuries after being transported to Hurley Trauma Center in Flint.
According to Michigan State Police Trooper Denis McGukin of the Lapeer Post, Richard Kroninger was northbound on Lake Pleasant Rd., just north of M-21, when his 2005 Cadillac CTS crossed the centerline and collided head-on with Baillod's southbound 1999 Pontiac Bonneville.
Mr. Kroninger was transported by ambulance to Hurley and his wife, a front seat passenger, was airlifted from the scene, also to Hurley. Both passed away at the hospital.
A third vehicle, driven by Dina Tallis of Lum, was unable to avoid the collision and struck the Kroninger's vehicle. Tallis and her seven year-old daughter, Ashlee, were treated for minor injuries.
The road remained closed for several hours while members of the state police's traffic crash reconstruction unit began their investigation.
