November 07, 2007 TRI-CITY AREA — Capac obtained a 25-16, 25-17, 17-25, 25-21 win over Almont in a Class B pre-district volleyball encounter last Thursday night at Goodrich High School.
With the decision, Capac (24-14-7) advances to a Saturday, November 3 district semifinal meeting at the same site where they will square off versus Goodrich. Almont finishes at 5-33-3.
Brittany Friedenstab handled the bulk of Capac's playmaking responsibilities that evening. She was credited with 34 assists.
Natalia Santi proved Capac's most lethal net weapon, collecting 16 kills. Sara Tomeo (14) notched a double digit kill output as well. They were backed by Friedenstab (seven kills), Taylor Sinda (six), Charlotte Clark (four) and Laura Pewinski (one).
Tomeo paced Capac's defense with 13 digs. The Chiefs also received digs courtesy of Abby Aguinaga (10), Santi (seven), Clark (five), Friedenstab (four), Pewinski (three) and Sinda (one).
Santi (three solos) along with Sinda and Friedenstab (one solo) furnished Capac's blocks.
Cortney Reid was Almont's offensive catalyst. She wound up with 30 assists.
Taylor Dziewit posted Almont's best hitting numbers, contributing 14 kills. Tasha Evans and Jolie Wycinski (five kills each) plus Lyndsay Klebba and Melissa Wilber (three apiece) supported her performance.
Reid (31 digs) paced Almont's defense. The remaining Raider digs went to Dziewit (29), Wycinski (25), Courtney Braun (22), Kelsea Offner (20), Emalee Maus (12) and Klebba (seven).
Evans (three), Wilber (two) and Amanda Devereaux (one) supplied Almont's solo blocks.
Reid added the lone Almont ace.
