September 26, 2007 CAPAC — All roads lead to Capac this Sunday, Sept. 30, when Carl Scholz presents his 21st annual Scholz Autofest at the high school.
The free classic car show is one of the largest and best-attended in Michigan's Thumb area, with thousands of auto enthusiasts and visitors taking part in the event.
This year's show will feature a tribute to Chargers and Barricudas, as more than 230 trophies will be awarded by judges in 74 competitive classes.
Registration is from 8-11 a.m. on Sunday, with the show beginning at noon.
Trophies will be awarded to the winning entries at 4 p.m.
Scholz says the show has become a traditional drawing card for classic car fans. He predicts good weather and a big crowd on Sunday.
"It's a very big deal for all of us and for the community," he says. "This show helps put Capac on the map."
All that car watching is sure to make visitors hungry. That's where the Mussey Twp. Fire Dept. ladies auxiliary comes in. They'll be serving their popular barbeque chicken dinners from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. both at the show and fire hall. Cost is $7 and all proceeds will benefit the fire department.
