Use of false ID ends in arrests

IMLAY CITY — One man's attempt to purchase alcohol on Sunday night led to the arrest of six suspected illegal immigrants.

Chief Arlan Winslow said an employee from Len's Party Store contacted police when a subject tried to use a false identification to buy alcohol around 7:20 p.m.

"Upon investigation, he was unable to produce proper identification," Winslow said.

The investigative unit of the U.S. Border Control was called and six Hispanic males were detained at the neighboring laundromat.

"The suspects were turned over to them pending 'alien status,'" Winslow said.
