My mom passed away on a Sunday morning. We went home after that to get ourselves together and headed for the funeral home to make arrangements. It was still very surreal but I managed to get through it without too much emotional trauma.
The fact that I witnessed her spirit leave her body when she died was pushed back into the recesses of my mind. We had business to take care of and that's where I was focusing my energy.
That night as I lay in bed trying to sleep I kept seeing pink swirls of light dancing before my eyes. The room was pitch black. I questioned it for only a few seconds but I knew it was mom trying to tell me she was all right. I closed my eyes; I still saw the pink lights, beautiful swirls of energetic light.
"I keep seeing these pink lights," I say to my husband.
"Swirling lights that look like they are dancing; she is dancing in Heaven."
"How am I supposed to sleep?" I ask with tears in my eyes. Instead of answering, he poses his own question.
"Well, I don't know what it is I am seeing," he says.
My husband is not religious and he is not spiritual. He is a confirmed Catholic, but that's where it ends. He works in engineering; everything he experiences has to be proven, tried and true.
"What do you mean?" I ask, curious as ever. "What do you see?"
"I don't know, there are three circles with different colored lights rotating in them," he explains.
Neither of us had ever had anything such as this happen and we couldn't explain it either. Later on, I discovered that what he saw might have been what some call "chakras." They are energy points within the body. But, we are still not completely sure what he saw.
Research I have done since seems to point to some type of chakra energy. Maybe his interpretation of what he saw was more precise than what I saw because we all see things differently.
My husband used to kid my mom about some of the bizarre things she would say. I think this was her way of saying "goodbye" to him. He often made her laugh and they got along famously. I wouldn't doubt she made a point to prove to him about the afterlife and to put it in an "engineering" format.
I was extremely surprised by his admission of what he saw. It reinforced in me that what I had seen in that last 24 hours was real, not just my imagination.
We aren't the only ones who have received messages. Many people told me of the signs from her. And I later found out that two of her brothers were awakened to my mother saying good-bye. One of her brothers saw her shrouded in light the night after she died. He was also given a premonition of a subsequent death of another sister, which did come true six months later.
Her other brother heard her calling his name, telling him to wake up. This was at approximately the same time she died.
The children in our family have also seen and heard from my mother since she has passed. I believe children are much more sensitive to spiritual energy. In fact, my five-year-old daughter told me that she often sees my mother.
