CAPAC — Capac's Jessica Blackstock suited up for the White squad which dropped a 3-2 outcome to the Red team during the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association Division 3 All-Star confrontation recently.
The action unfolded Saturday, July 21 at the Michigan State University Softball Field.
At the plate, Blackstock provided the Red squad with a two for two performance. She reached the basepaths both times on infield singles.
In the third inning, when the batter following her in the order singled to rightcenterfield, Blackstock displayed her blazing speed by advancing all the way from first to third base. It was there she slid in safely to beat the throw.
She excelled defensively as well, starting the contest at centerfield before seeing action as a rightfielder and a leftfielder. The Capac stalwart played errorless ball there over her eight-inning stint.
Her performance there was highlighted by a diving catch of a short fly ball just behind third base. It earned Blackstock an ovation from both sides of the field.
Blackstock will be attending Saginaw Valley State University in the fall and hopes that she can earn a roster spot on the Cardinals' softball squad.
