IMLAY CITY —Chamber of commerce Director Sally Reinhardt has high hopes for this weekend's citywide Sidewalk Sales.

The annual sales begin Thursday, July 19 and run through Saturday, July 21, with many merchants planning to take part.

Reinhardt believes many businesses will benefit from other special activities taking place in the downtown area at the same time.

"With the Farmers Market on Thursday and the Ice Cream Social on Friday, I'm thinking there will be a lot of people downtown," says Reinhardt. "I'd like to see our streets teeming with people."

Reinhardt adds that the completion of the streetscape project and the addition of flower gardens are yet more reasons for residents and visitors to shop in Imlay City.

"Our downtown area is gorgeous," she says. "We're all working hard to bring people to our community. Our goal is to promote Imlay City and to educate people about all the things we have to offer."

In addition to merchants in the downtown district, Reinhardt says those in the M-53 Plaza are also expected to participate in the citywide sales.

The sidewalk sales take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.Thursday-Saturday, while the Farmers Market is Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the Ice Cream Social is from 1-4 p.m. on Friday.

For more information, call Reinhardt at the Imlay City Area Chamber of Commerce at 810-724-1361.
