CAPAC — As of Thursday, representatives from Jennifer Granholm's office confirmed the governor plans to attend next week's Keihin Michigan Manufacturing plant's groundbreaking.

It's expected that state and federal officials will also attend the July 19 event at Koehn and Capac roads at 11 a.m., Acting Manager Dennis Collison said.

Of course, schedules are subject to change and with the Michigan legislature returning to budget talks early next week, it's possible that subject could interfere with Granholm's appearance, Collison added.

The public is invited to attend. Parking will be available on the property via a construction road crews created. Individuals will be directing traffic.

In addition to Keihin officials, Collison said the company has invited representatives from Honda Motor Company and their suppliers to join the ceremony.

Keihin (pronounced Kay-hin) manufactures HVAC systems and intake manifolds at the Capac facility for Honda vehicles. The plant is slated to be completed by next fall.

Following the groundbreaking, Keihin will unveil a new clock they've donated to the community in front of the village offices at 12 p.m.

Since the carnival and rides will close down Main St. at that time, those who attend the second ceremony will be asked to park along Church St. and in the police department parking lot.
