Snapshots of love

Father's Day photo contest draws variety of entries

June 13, 2007
TRI-CITY AREA — Pictures paint a thousand words, and for those who entered the Father's Day photo contest, they paint three words a thousand times: "I love you."

Sponsored by the Imlay City Downtown Develop-ment Authority and the Tri-City Times, the contest drew entries from readers from across the Tri-City area.

Grand prize winners were Ryan and Xander Nolin of Attica, who are pictured wading into the tide. Lisa Hunter of Allenton entered the first place winner, a photo of her husband James fishing with their kids Sarah, Brendan and Josh. Almont resident Tom Giles' black and white photo called 'The Carpenters' took second place, and a snapshot of a tender moment between Noelle Salsido and her dad, John, both of Imlay City, earned the third spot.

Other entries include Imlay Twp. resident Kurt Kramer and son Michael mowing lawn; Ashley and Megan Jamison of Yale with their dad; Imlay City's Julia Lengemann's photo of husband Bill with their three daughters; Brandon Phillips of Capac pictured with his grandpa; Jennifer Hollenbeck of Imlay City, who sent in a shot of husband Chad and son Avery; Capac's Kathy Keskimaki's photo of Al Keskimaki with his granddaughter Grace Abate; James Hill of Clifford, pictured washing his car with his son Jacob; Diane Grapentin of Imlay City who sent a photo of her dad walking her down the aisle; Dryden resident Rhonda Kopas' picture of her brother Robert Strong fishing with his grandson Robert Declue; Lorraine Filer of Imlay City, who sent a photo of her husband Dan with his grandchildren Nikki and Darren; Capac resident Tracy Motney for a photo of her late husband Andrew with his father, Joe, and son, Reese; Elaine Spencer of Almont who sent an historic and current photo of her dad, Fred Bassier, a World War II veteran; Leonard resident Nancy Strong who sent a shot of Robert Strong with his grandson Austin Kopas; Rebecca Hill of Imlay City entered a montage of photos of herself and her dad, Dave Hill; Scott Barker and son Hank, both of Capac, pictured hunting together; Donald Ostrum of North Branch with his daughter Alexis Ostrum, all set for a birthday party; Capac residents Michael and baby IsaBelle Stull sharing a tender moment; and paintball partners Steven Preisel (son) and Jim Preisel (dad) of Attica.

Congratulations to all of the Father's Day photo contest winners and entrants, who prove that pictures do paint a thousand words—the greatest of which is love.
