June 06, 2007 DENVER — Broncos Coach Mike Shanahan said David Kircus, an Imlay City High School graduate, will stay with the NFL team after passing a lie detector test "with flying colors" the Denver Post reported this past week.
The article states Kircus never denied striking a man and fracturing his face at a party May 20, but he always maintained he did not take the first swing and acted in self defense.
After telling Shanahan his side of the story, Kircus took a polygraph test which he reportedly passed with ease.
Though Kircus' job with the Broncos appears safe, he still will have to avoid a conviction for the second degree assault charge (a Class 4 felony that carries a penalty of 5-16 years in prison).
Polygraph tests are typically not accepted as evidence in court.
