TRI-CITY AREA — The Almont, Capac and Imlay City girls' track teams all exited with several strong showings but were denied in their respective pursuit of points last Saturday at the Division 3 state finals hosted by Comstock Park High School.

When the final scores were added up, Albion's 66-point output set the pace. They were followed by Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard (43 points), Parchment (40), Williamston (36), Jackson Lumen Christi, Grand Rapids West Catholic and Detroit Country Day (30 each), Flint Hamady (27.5), Frankenmuth (25), Leroy Pine River (23), Hemlock (17), White Cloud and Standish Sterling (16 apiece), Shepherd (14.5), Benzie Central (14), Adrian Madison (13), Elkton-Pigeon BayPort and Grandville Calvin Christian (12 each), Perry and Hillsdale (11 apiece), Clare, Lakeview and Carson City Crystal (10 each), Hopkins (nine), Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central, Stockbridge, Montague, Elk Rapids and Wyoming Kelloggsville (eight apiece), Saranac (seven), Vermontville Maple Valley (six-and-a-half), Unionville Sebewaing Area and Carrollton (six each), Lansing Catholic, Macomb Lutheran North, Bronson, Sanford Meridian and Mayville (five apiece), Tawas, Union City and Kent City (four each), Hartford, Schoolcraft, Charlevoix, Birch Run, Allendale and Paw Paw (three apiece), Michigan Center, Boyne City, Gobles, Napoleon and Madison Heights Madison (two each), Watervliet (one-and-a-half) along with Hanover Horton, Laingsburg and Whittemore Prescott (one apiece).

The Almont 3200-meter relay of Lauren Rogers, Brandy Ullom, Lauren Deneweth and Marie Burkland set a school record with a time of 10:19.07. The performance bested the 10:29.31 clocking the same quartet generated en route to a third at the Marysville High School-based O'Connor Realty Meet of Champions.

The 800 (Jessica Medrano, Tabitha Czekiel, Kayla Weber and Marissa Moore) and 1600 (Danielle Nieman, Melissa Sawicki, Weber and Medrano) relays checked in with Capac's best showings. They were timed in 1:48.88 and 4:17, respectively.

A 400-meter relay team of Beckky Hummel, Taelor Webb, Ashley Roth and Christine Hillman provided the most noteworthy Imlay City outing that day. They were timed in 53 seconds.
