IMLAY CITY — This year's Farmers Market is the subject of growing enthusiasm, thanks to a new location and an anticipated increase in vendors.

The annual market opens tomorrow (Thurs., June 7) at 10 a.m. at the corner of Main and Third streets downtown.

The Farmers Market will take place on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. throughout the summer months, concluding on Oct. 25.

Vendors will be selling fresh produce, plants, flowers, crafts and other items grown or created locally.

In addition, Imlay City Bob will perform at the market this Thursday from 1-2 p.m. The local entertainer plays acoustic guitar and sings. Visitors are encouraged to bring a chair and listen.

Downtown Development Authority Director Brad Barrett believes the relocation of the market from the Lamb-Steele building parking lot along M-53 will be beneficial for vendors and shoppers.

Customers check out wares at Imlay City Farmers Market last summer. The market opens at its new location downtown tomorrow.
"The new location will be a lot better for people walking downtown," said Barrett. "It will be more friendly for pedestrians and for downtown shoppers. We hope people will stop and stay awhile."

The daily vendor rate is $10, although regular vendors can qualify for the full-season rate of $73.50.

Vendor applications are available at the Imlay City Hall or by visiting the DDA web site at www.icdda.com
