Imlay City defeats Capac, 74-56,in BWAC girls' track confrontation

TRI-CITY AREA — Imlay City downed host Capac, 74-56, in a Blue Water Area Conference girls' track meeting last Thursday afternoon.

Jaclyn Jerzewski, high jump, 3 feet 10 inches; Allison Gass, shot put, 28 feet 7 inches; Christine Hillman, 100 hurdles, 17.52 seconds; Ashley Roth, 300-meter hurdles, 51.49 seconds; and Amanda Lacertosa, 1600 run, 5:51; led Imlay City with individual event firsts that day.

The Imlay City 400 (Kelsey Bosch, Caley Campbell, Emma Reeck and Jerzewski), 800 (Nicole Wilcox, Becky Humel, Taelor Webb and Christine Hillman) and 3200-meter (Brittany Price, Ashton Tripp Sarah Bennett and Lacertosa) relays claimed number one showings as well. They notched respective clockings of 56.53 seconds, 1:53.13 and 14:45.46 en route.

Hillman, high jump, 3 feet 10 inches; Roth (13 feet 9 1/2 inches) 100 hurdles (19.88 seconds); Gass, discus, 75 feet 4 inches; Hummel, 100 (13.75 seconds) and 200-meter (29.11 seconds) dashes; Webb, 400 dash, 1:08.78; Price, 800-meter run, 2:45.69; and Bennett, 3200 run, 13:15.33; generated Imlay City's seconds that day.

Imlay City also counted third-place finishes from Bosch, high jump, 3 feet 10 inches; Hummel, long jump, 13 feet 5 inches; Denise Soulliere, shot put, 22 feet 10 1/4 inches; Leeanne Fifield, discus, 68 feet 11 inches; Reeck, 100-meter dash, 14.25 seconds; Bosch, 400 dash, 1:18.58; and Bennett, 1600-meter run, no time available.

Tabith Czekiel, pole vault, 6 feet 6 inches; Brandy Bly, discus, 76 feet 5 inches; Marissa Moore, long jump (13 feet 11 inches) along with the 100 (13.57 seconds) and 200-meter (28.3 seconds) dashes; Jessica Medrano, 400 dash, 1:02.55; Melissa Sawicki, 800-meter run, 2:39.41; and Lindsey Manning, 3200 run, 12:55.49; paced Capac with individual event firsts that day.

The Capac 1600-meter relay of Danielle Nieman, Sawicki, Czekiel and Medrano also prevailed. It took them 4:35.96 to accomplish the feat.

Bly, shot put, 28 feet 4 1/4 inches; Czekiel, 300 hurdles, 1:00.01; and Ashley Callewaert, 1600-meter run, 7:03.43; collected Capac's seconds.

Capac also received thirds courtesy of Czekiel, 100 hurdles, 21.58 seconds; Nieman, 200-meter dash, 29.84 seconds; and Kylie Miller, 1600 run, 7:14.55.
