Almont second at the BWAC tennis tourney

TRI-CITY AREA — The Almont boys' tennis team amassed a 46-point output, good enough for a second-place finish last Saturday at the Blue Water Area Conference Tournament.

When the final scores were posted, Armada's 53-point total proved tops. They were followed by Almont (46 points), Yale (36), Richmond (33), Cros-Lex (24), Algonac (17) and Imlay City (11).

David Braidwood (third singles) plus Tyler Sutter and Kyle Henry (third doubles) led Almont with flight titles that day. Braidwood closed out his unbeaten run with a 6-2, 6-1win against Richmond's Jesse DePauw; while Sutter and Henry capped a successful day on the courts with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Armada's Jared Wozniak and Alex Blake.

Tim Streeter (second singles), Andy Schoen (fourth singles) along with Logan McDermott and Jake Fiebelkorn (first doubles) furnished Almont's seconds that day. Streeter ended his stint with a 3-6, 0-6 championship setback to Armada's Jake Miller; Schoen fell by a 7-6 (8-6), 3-6, 3-6 title match count to Armada's Tyler Kinch; plus McDermott and Fiebelkorn completed their stint with a 6-4, 2-6, 3-6 championship setback to the Armada team of Joe Zebelian and Jordan Krause.

Neal Zott (first singles), Josh Walker and Dan Miller (second doubles) along with Nate Zgnilec and Alex Schubert added third-place showings to Almont's cause.
