DRYDEN TWP. — A 76 year-old Almont Township man died in a single-vehicle accident Sunday on Dryden Road.
According to Dryden Township Police Chief Shawn Peters, the man was traveling east near Havens Roads around 3:49 p.m. when he apparently lost control of his 2012 Dodge Ram truck. The vehicle left the roadway and struck several trees and mailboxes before coming to rest on the north side of Dryden Road.
Peters said officer Keith Quick responded to the scene and reported the driver, who was the only occupant, was not showing any signs of life.
"Lapeer County EMS and Dryden Township Fire and Fire Responders also arrived on scene and attempted to render medical aid to the male driver./ The driver was later pronounced dead at the scene," Peters said in a press release.
At the time of the crash, Dryden Road was experiencing "very wet" conditions due to mix of rain and snow that had fallen.
Investigators ask that anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact Dryden Police at (810) 796-2271. A nearby resident, who called 911, only heard the crash.
Other departments assisting on scene included the Lapeer County Sheriff's Office and Almont Police Department.
