BERLIN TWP. — A 49 year-old Ubly man died in a single-vehicle accident on Thursday morning, Nov. 1. According to troopers from the Michigan State Police's Lapeer Post, the man was southbound on Capac Road just before 6 a.m. when his vehicle left the roadway north of Sharrard Road.
"The truck struck the embankment before reentering the roadway, rolling several times and coming to rest in the northbound lane of the roadway," a press release stated.
The driver and sole occupant of the 2007 Dodge truck was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say the man was not wearing a seatbelt.
"Preliminary investigation suggests alcohol, weather and roadway conditions were not contributing factors. The investigation remains open pending additional investigation," the release said.
