IMLAY CITY — City Clerk/Treasurer Lynn Eutsler is reminding residents of two important upcoming elections.
They include the State Primary Election on Tues., August 7; and the State General Election on Tues., November 6.
Eutsler said the deadline to register to vote in the August election is July 9, 2018; while the last day to register to vote in the November election is October 9, 2018.
Registration takes place at the Imlay City Clerk's Office, Lapeer County Clerk's Office, any Secretary of State's office or by mail.
You may be eligible to vote by mail with an absentee ballot if you meet any of the following eligibility requirements:
•Are at least 60 years old.
•Are unable to vote without assistance.
•Expect to be absent from residence when polls are open.
•Are in jail awaiting arraignment or trial.
•Have been appointed to work as an election inspector at a precinct outside his/her precinct of residence.
•Unable to attend polls due to religious beliefs.
If you qualify for and wish to vote by absentee ballot, contact the Imlay City Clerk's office at 810-724-2135 and an application will be sent to you in the mail.
Once the ballots become available (about 45 days before the election), you will be mailed a ballot to return either in person or by mail.
