LeFevere medals three times at Div. 2 state meet


Winget, Hubbard, Denver also place for Imlay

IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City girls' track team registered three placewinning performances en route to a two-way tie with Parma Western for 21st last Saturday at the Division 2 state finals in Zeeland.

Corunna's 54-point total paced the field assembled. Holland Christian (49 points), Zeeland East (37), East Grand Rapids (33), Bridgeport (31), Allendale (28), Frankenmuth (25), Ada Forest Hills Eastern and Grand Rapids Catholic Central (23 each) along with Williamston (22) also obtained top-10 showings.

Robin LeFevere, 400-meter dash, a school record-setting time of 59.03 seconds; led Imlay City with a fourth. Her time lowered the previous standard of 59.9 seconds set by Ashley Jager in 2004.

LeFevere, long jump, 17 feet 2 1/2 inches; gave Imlay City an individual event sixth.

The Imlay City 1600 relay of McKinzie Winget, Sarah Hubbard, Jessica Denver and LeFevere placed sixth as well. They registered a school record-setting clocking of 4:06.9 en route. The previous mark was 4:07.93 established by Ashley Jager, Amy Schmitz, Carissa Pilarski and Rachel Verbeke during the 2002 campaign.

For their performances, LeFevere along with Imlay City's 1600-meter relay earned All-State accolades (reserved for the top-eight finishers in each event).

A 3200 relay of Sarah Hubbard, Ana Lengemann, Mary Lengemann and Denver had the next best Imlay City showing. They managed a 9:59.57 clocking, good for 16th.

Winget, 400-meter dash, 1:02.1; gave Imlay City a 17th.

Imlay City also received a 25th from Mary Lengemann, 1600 run, 5:29.99.
