Imlay City captures a top 8U finish

IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City 8U baseball team earned a number one finish at a tournament it hosted last Friday through Sunday.

Imlay City began their tournament stint Friday with a 19-4 win against Memphis.

The team followed it up Saturday with an 18-6 victory over Armada 2.

Imlay City then closed out pool play with a 15-12 triumph against Almont.

That put Imlay City in the title matchup versus Armada 1. Their clash wrapped up with Imlay City pulling out a 25-19 victory.

Henry Schmidt, Griffin Wetzel, Reese Catenero, Joey Nerkowski, Kash Allesandri, Ty Wagester, Easton Finch, Waylon Wilcox, Lucas Hunter, Max Moenaert, Tristan Detweiler, Bryce Homer and Jordan Stoldt helped make Imlay City's first-place finish possible.

Kevin Kissane has been covering high school sports for the Tri-City Times since 1985. When not standing on a field or court with his camera and notepad, he enjoys golf, travel and family. Kevin is a 1980 graduate of Capac High School, and is also a grad of St. Clair Community College and earned a degree in journalism from Central Michigan University.
