TRI-CITY AREA — The Almont and Imlay City girls' tennis teams took third and sixth, respectively, last Saturday at the Blue Water Area Conference Tournament.
Almont and Imlay City is where the matches were contested.
When the final scores were added up, Cros-Lex's 50-point total paced the field assembled. Armada (44 points), Almont (38), Yale (36), Richmond (27), Imlay City (19) and Algonac (seven) held down spots two through seven.
Alexis Hanaford headlined for Almont that day. Hanaford reached the title match at fourth singles where she earned a 6-4, 6-3 win against Cros-Lex's Ashlyn McNeill.
Maria Bussone and Paige Hunger provided Almont with seconds. Bussone advanced to the top flight championship clash where she dropped a 2-6, 2-6 verdict to Cros-Lex's Ana Sanchez and Hunger gained admittance to the title tilt at third singles where she fell 6-7, 6-2, 5-7 to Armada's Jessica Scopas.
Nadia Manko (second singles) added a third to Almont's cause.
Summer Stoldt (first singles) plus Jessica DeLaCruz and Julie Bungaard (fourth doubles) paced Imlay City that day, taking fourth in their respective flights.
