CAPAC — Capac hoop standouts Trevor Boers and Andrew Sams were recognized for their outstanding seasons, earning an appearance on the honorable mention portion of the Detroit News Class C All-State basketball squad which was announced recently.
Boers wound up with 406 points in 24 games, an average of 16.9 points per contest, during the 2017-18 campaign.
That placed him first on the Capac squad and second out of those who attained Tri-City Times All-Area first team status.
The 6-8 junior forward also grabbed 294 rebounds, blocked a school record-setting 101 shots, handed off 49 assists and supplied 38 steals.
He concluded his third season at the varsity level as an All-Blue Water Area Conference first team selection.
Sams amassed 331 points in 24 contests, an average of 13.8 points per game, this winter.
That placed him second on the Capac squad and fifth among those who attained Tri-City Times All-Area first team status.
The 6-0 senior guard also handed off 104 assists, registered 85 rebounds and collected 74 steals.
Sams capped his fourth season at the varsity level as an All-Blue Water Area Conference first team choice and All-Blue Water Area Conference Defensive Team pick.
Capac ended the 2017-18 campaign with a Class C district title, a 17-7 overall mark and a 9-5 Blue Water Area Conference showing (good enough for a share of third with Almont).
