DRYDEN — John DelCampo amassed 23 points, upping his career total to 1,017, and his effort helped host Dryden post a 55-32 win against Memphis in a Class C boys' district basketball opening round clash Monday night.
With the outcome, Dryden (15-6) advances to Wednesday's semifinal game where it will entertain Capac (15-6). That matchup lists a 6 p.m. starting time.
DelCampo surpassed the 1,000-point barrier, bringing his total to 1,001, when he drained a triple with 3:18 to play during quarter number two. The shot staked his team to a 20-10 cushion at the time.
Dryden would widen the gap to 27-12 at halftime and 42-17 with 24 minutes gone.
Memphis then outscored Dryden 15-13 the rest of the way, only to drop a 55-32 verdict.
Jack Kaplan (nine) and Brady Czape (eight) furnished the next highest Dryden point totals that evening. The Cardinals also had Hunter Gall (six points), Nate Schenkel (three) plus Ethan Ledford and Rylan Rudd (a trifecta each) reach the scoring column.
