Almont falls to Armada


Raiders slip to 4-3 in BWAC, 35-34 loss

ALMONT — Almont fell one point short, dropping a 35-34 verdict to host Armada in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity boys' basketball matchup on Tuesday, January 30.

Adam Job's shot in the lane at the buzzer propelled Armada to the win there.

With the decision, Armada goes to 9-2 and 5-1. Almont slips to 8-4 and 4-3.

In Tuesday's matchup, Almont grabbed a 10-6 edge after one quarter had ended.

Almont followed that up with a 10-8 second quarter advantage, pushing their cushion to 20-14 at the halftime break.

When play resumed, Armada bounced back with an 11-9 third quarter edge. That whittled their deficit to 29-25 with 24 minutes gone.

Armada then put together a 10-5 fourth quarter rally, pulling out a 35-34 victory.

For Almont, Austin Watt's 12-point performance led the way. He was given assistance in the scoring department by Rafael Farias (six points), Gabe Bourdeau and Ethan Hall (five apiece), Clay Schapman (four) and Chase Kapron (two).
