CAPAC — The Capac varsity boys' basketball team fell for the first time in Blue Water Area Conference action, dropping a 76-62 verdict to visiting Richmond last Wednesday night.
With the outcome, Richmond raises its BWAC mark to 6-0. Capac slips to 5-1.
In Wednesday's confrontation, Richmond jumped out to a 24-18 advantage after one quarter was over with.
The next eight-minute stretch of hoops saw Richmond accumulate 17 points and Capac manage nine, leaving the former up 41-27 at the halftime break.
When the action resumed, Richmond continue to pull away. Aided by a 20-18 third quarter edge, the Blue Devils increased their cushion to 61-45 with 24 minutes gone.
Capac then outscored Richmond 17-15 the rest of the way, only to fall 76-62 when the clock zeroed out for the last time.
Andrew Sams (26), Trevor Boers (21) and Jordan Hellmuth (12) led Capac with double digit point totals. They were backed by Jacob Witt (two points) and Brendan Falco (one).
