IMLAY CITY — Imlay City handed visiting Bad Axe a 53-17 setback in a non-league varsity girls' basketball game last Wednesday night.
With the result, Imlay City improves to 1-1 overall.
In Wednesday's game, Imlay City jumped out to a 14-5 advantage after one quarter was over with.

Quarter two saw Imlay City amass eight points and Bad Axe manage four, pushing its lead to 22-9 at the half.
When the action resumed, Imlay City continued to pull away. Aided by a 17-4 third quarter edge, the Spartans went ahead 39-13 with 24 minutes gone.
Imlay City then outscored Bad Axe 14-4 the rest of the way, putting the finishing touches on a 53-17 win.
Abby Schefka (16), Haley Medrano (15) and Kayla Louwsma (11) led Imlay City with double digit point totals. They were backed by Claire Thibodeau and Kendall Sommer (four points each) along with Erika Vanderploeg (three).
