ALMONT — Almont's Grace Zimmerman and Tyler Kautz plus Brandi Kautz teed it up July 1-2 at the 14th Annual Midwest Junior Golf Championship.

The Tradition Course, at Treetops Resort in Gaylord, hosted the event.

Zimmerman led a pair of Almont competitors in the Girls' 16-18 age group, registering a three-way tie for a fifth. Her performance included an opening round 93, followed by a round two output of 79.

Tyler Kautz tested her prowess in the division as well. She posted an opening round 90 and a closing round 86, paving the way to a ninth.

Brandi Kautz rounded out the list of Almont entrants on hand.

Competing in the Girls' 12-15 age group, Kautz posted a 218 total en route to a sixth. Her effort included an opening round 109, followed by a closing round 109.

Kevin Kissane has been covering high school sports for the Tri-City Times since 1985. When not standing on a field or court with his camera and notepad, he enjoys golf, travel and family. Kevin is a 1980 graduate of Capac High School, and is also a grad of St. Clair Community College and earned a degree in journalism from Central Michigan University.
