TRI-CITY AREA — From the opening game until the final contest, these athletes set the standard for excellence with their court accomplishments.

Here is a look at the 2016-17 edition of The Tri-City Times All-Area girls' basketball squad and the numbers they generated en route:

Abby Schefka, Imlay City.

Schefka netted 258 points in 21 games, an average of 12.3 points per contest, this winter.

That enabled her to rank first on the Imlay City squad and among those named to the Tri-City Times All-Area first team lineup.

She also pulled down 153 rebounds and registered 34 steals.

The 5-9 junior guard/forward finished her third season on Imlay City's varsity as an All-Blue Water Area Conference first team pick.

Meredith Rinke, Almont.

Rinke provided 243 points over 21 contests, an average of 11.6 points per game, during the 2016-17 campaign.

That placed her first on the Almont squad and second among those who attained Tri-City Times All-Area first team status.

She also grabbed 256 rebounds and contributed 88 steals.

Rinke, a 5-7 junior forward, ended season number three on Almont's varsity as an All-Blue Water Area Conference first team choice.

Alexys Anderson, Capac.

Anderson amassed 207 points in 23 games, an average of 9.0 per contest, this winter.

That enabled her to rank first on the Capac squad and third among those named to the Tri-City Times All-Area first team lineup.

She also finished with 92 steals and handed off 69 assists.

The 5-5 junior guard wrapped up her second season on Capac's varsity as an All-Blue Water Area Conference honorable mention selection.

Hannah Peyerk, Dryden.

Peyerk managed 160 points over 19 contests, an average of 8.4 points per game, during the 2016-17 campaign.

That placed her first on the Dryden squad and fourth among those who attained Tri-City Times All-Area first team status.

She also handed off 55 assists, pulled down 50 rebounds and collected 30 steals.

Peyerk, a 5-6 freshman guard, concluded season number one on Dryden's varsity as an All-North Central Thumb League second team pick.

Kendall Sommer, Imlay City.

Sommer managed 153 points in 21 games, an average of 7.3 points per contest, this winter.

That enabled her to rank second on the Imlay City squad and fifth among those named to the Tri-City Times All-Area first team lineup.

She also contributed 93 rebounds and 26 steals to Imlay City's cause.

The 5-11 sophomore forward completed her second season on Imlay City's varsity as an All-Blue Water Area Conference honorable mention choice.

Grace Zimmerman, Almont.

Zimmerman accumulated 114 points over 19 games, an average of 6.0 points per contest, during the 2016-17 campaign.

She also registered 57 steals and grabbed 55 rebounds.

Zimmerman, a 5-2 junior guard, completed season number two on Almont's varsity as an All-Blue Water Area Conference honorable mention selection.

Second team- Jordan Peters, Dryden; Elizabeth Kerby, Almont; Hayley Medrano, Imlay City; Delaney Verschure, Capac; Kristen Payne, Capac; and Kelsey Payne, Capac.

Honorable mention- Mia Sliman, Dryden; Rebecca Measel, Almont; and Haylee Wolle, Dryden.

Coach of the Year- For directing his team to an 11-10 overall mark, including an 8-6 Blue Water Area Conference showing, Almont Coach Beau Beneson earns Tri-City Times All-Area Coach of the Year accolades.
