IMLAY CITY — Imlay City turned back host Armada, 63-56, in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity boys' basketball confrontation last Friday night.
With the decision, Imlay City moves to 5-6 and 4-2. Armada drops to 5-6 and 3-3.
In Friday's confrontation, Imlay City took a 15-11 edge after one quarter was done.
The next eight-minute stretch saw Imlay City double its lead. Aided by a 16-12 advantage there, the Spartans went up 31-23 at the halftime break.
When play resumed, Imlay City widened the gap even more. Thanks to a 16-13 third quarter edge, the Spartans pushed their lead to 47-36 with 24 minutes elapsed.
Imlay City then withstood a 20-16 fourth quarter rally to leave with a 63-56 win to their credit.
Noah Galbraith led Imlay City with 16 points. Jose Bartolomei Castro and Griffin Schirmer (14 points apiece), Jordan Lesniak (eight), Curtis Homer (five), Bruce Bollini (four) and Reid Bannister (two) supported his performance.
Drew Davis paced Armada with 17 points.
