Something for everyone at Outdoor Weekend

September 06, 2017
There's no arguing that the Eastern Michigan State Fairgrounds is a jewel in the crown of Imlay City. The prime acreage on the highly traveled M-53 is a destination spot for people from all around the state when it comes to Fair time. And when the Woods-N-Water News Outdoor Weekend arrives, the Fairgrounds becomes a go-to spot for people from across the state, Ohio and Indiana, and for our neighbors to the north in Canada.

This weekend, the spotlight will again shine on Imlay City as the 31st annual Woods-N-Water News Outdoor weekend kicks off on Friday evening at 5 p.m.

Widely known as Michigan's premier outdoor publication, Woods-N-Water News was created right here in Imlay City in 1984 as an insert in the Tri-City Times. From there, it has blossomed into one of the most popular periodicals for sportsmen and women, outdoor enthusiasts, and those who love all of the amazing things that the Great Lakes State has to offer.

Those amazing things—hunting, fishing, hiking, boating, canoeing, camping, climbing and more—will be represented at the Outdoor Show, as will a wide varitety of seminars, demonstrations, and activities for people of all ages. Be sure to bring your appetite, as a wide variety of food will be available, as will all of the equipment needed for the outdoor activity of your choice. Need a hunting companion, or a new family pet? You'll find that too at the Outdoor Weekend's popular 'Puppy Tent.' You can also show off your dog's skills at the fan favorite Milt Wilcox Ultimate Air Dogs challenge. Step back in time with Civil War reenactors and their camp, blacksmithing and antique and rustic tool demonstrations. As always, admission is just $8 and includes parking. Children 12 and under are admitted free.

If you've never visited the Woods-N-Water Outdoor Weekend, check it out and be amazed. The show offers something for everyone, and has become a favorite event for families.

The show has become the subject of numerous 'big media' stories highlighting Imlay City and the Fairgrounds, and is covered by print, broadcast and television media across the state.

As our sister publication, we're proud that Woods-N-Water News is known as Michigan's premier outdoor publication, and that the Outdoor Weekend is among the premier events that put—and keep—Imlay City on the map.

See you there!
