IMLAY CITY — If you are looking to bid on some outstanding and unique items, stop by the Ruth Hughes Memorial District Library this week.

The Library's weeklong Silent Auction begins today (Wed., Feb. 6) and runs through next Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m.

Library event coordinator Mandy Summers said community members have been particularly generous in the items they have donated to this year's auction.

"We've had such a wonderful outpouring of support from our patrons and local businesses," said Summers. "Truly, my favorite part of the auction is seeing the community stand with us and showing how much they love their library."

Summers alluded to some of her personal favorites items that have been donated to the auction. "Some of the coolest items are a soft-sided Yeti Cooler, Disney Princess waffle maker, some incredible Marvel collectibles from Lapeer's Comic Explosion, antique Fisher Price toys, a snowcone maker, featuring Frozen's Olaf; a brand-new cash register and gift certificates to local businesses, including Woodchips American BBQ, 123 Escape Rooms, Grondin's Hair Care of Imlay City, Imlay City's Peaceful Moon Yoga, Lucky's Steak House, Nick's Warehouse, and Backyard Creations and More.

"I think this could turn out to be our best auction to date," Summers opined. "People are going to like what they find."

Summers advised that anyone interested in bidding on auction items should stop in soon to register for a Silent Auction "bid number" at the library's checkout desk.

"We encourage everybody to come back often to check on the status of their bids," she said. "It's possible others might be prowling for the same treasures."

The Ruth Hughes Memorial District Library is located at 211 N. Almont Ave. in downtown Imlay City.
